SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
AttentionDue to internal restructuring of our submissions process here at Samuel French, Inc. and Baker’s Plays, we are temporarily not accepting unsolicited submissions of new plays. It is our goal during this time to assess our submissions policy and examine the ways in which we can better and more effectively serve the playwriting community.
We encourage playwrights to visit this site periodically, as new submission information will be posted when we are again able to consider future unsolicited scripts for publication.
For questions about Samuel French, Inc. and Baker’s Plays' acting editions and our playwrights, please email publications@samuelfrench.com.
Playwriting Resources
We recommend the following resources to anyone interested (or already immersed) in the art of playwriting:
The Dramatists Sourcebook - published by Theatre Communications Group and available for purchase from our website. This book is a great resource for playwrights. It offers information about theaters, agents, grants, contests, etc., and it's updated yearly.
The Dramatists Guild of America - The professional association of playwrights, composers and lyricists. A great resource of information and advocacy for playwrights.
Samuel French Formatting Guide - If you are asked to provide a full script after we have reviewed your initial submission, please refer to our formatting guide. While this guide does not cover all contingencies, it can be a quick and helpful reference for those who are new to formatting plays.
