Baker's Plays maintains an open submission policy. We accept full-length plays, one act plays, theatre texts, musicals, and collections of scenes and monologues. Our market consists of high school, university, children's, family and regional theaters, as well as religious institutions.

For Religious Submissions

Christian plays currently comprise the bulk of our religious collection. These plays can dramatize or creatively embellish upon a Biblical story, or also be about modern Christian life. Plays for children and young adults are in high demand. We encourage submissions of plays specific to and/or embracing all other faiths and belief systems.

For All Submissions

We generally prefer plays which have been "production tested". Plays which have had a staged reading, workshop reading or full production will usually undergo revisions during the rehearsal process. If your play has not yet been produced, your time and energy may be better first spent pursuing a production rather than publication.

Manuscripts must be typed in the standard play format. If you need more information about that method of formatting, a good guide is provided in Professional Playscript Format Guidelines & Sample by Mollie Ann Meserve, which available for purchase on our website. Playwrights should include a script history and reviews, if applicable. When submitting a musical, include the score or a compact disc of all the songs which are in the script. Our reading evaluation period averages six to eight months.

We are now encouraging submissions via email at publications@bakersplays.com. If submitting via email, please make sure that your script is in MS Word, .txt or .pdf format. You will receive an email notification of receipt.

If submitting via regular mail, the manuscript must be securely bound. Include an S.A.S.E. if you wish your manuscript returned. A postcard will be sent as notification of our receipt.

Mailed submissions should be addressed:
